Summary
Revstage is a local-first BOM tool. Your workspace lives on your own device. The developer runs no Revstage server, has no Revstage account system, and includes no analytics, advertising, or tracking. The developer does not collect, receive, or sell your data.
What stays on your device
- Your workspace: products, BOM revisions, reference designators, parts, approved vendor list, inventory, engineering changes, cost quotes you import, attachments, and the activity history Revstage keeps for your workspace.
- Local sign-in details for your workspace (an email address you choose and a hashed password). These are used only to sign in to your own workspace and are never sent to the developer.
In the App Store editions this data is stored in an encrypted database on your Mac or iPad, protected by a key kept in the system keychain.
What leaves your device, and only when you choose
- Backups and exports. Files you create, such as CSV exports or encrypted portable backups, go wherever you save them.
- Team sharing (Mac, Team subscription). When you turn on team sharing, your Mac serves the team workspace to browsers on your own local network, or your own VPN, that you invited. Nothing passes through the developer.
- Distributor searches. "Search DigiKey" and "Search Mouser" open your web browser. Revstage itself sends nothing to those sites.
- Update check (website download only). The version downloaded from this website asks GitHub for the list of Revstage releases to tell you when a newer version exists. It sends no workspace data. The App Store editions do not do this.
Purchases
App Store subscriptions are processed by Apple. The developer never sees your payment details. Revstage checks your subscription on your device using Apple's receipt and StoreKit information.
Licenses bought on this website are sold by Polar (polar.sh), which acts as the reseller and processes your payment, sales tax and invoices under its own privacy policy. The developer receives your name, email address, country and order details from Polar. Polar emails you a license key. When you activate the key, and about once a day while you are online, Revstage sends the key, your organization identifier and your Mac's name to Polar's license server to confirm the key is still valid. No workspace data is sent.
Children
Revstage is a business tool and is not directed at children.
Your rights
Because the developer does not hold your data, you control it directly: you can export, correct, or delete any record in the app, or delete the app and its data from your device. If you are in the EU, the UK, or California and have a privacy question or request, contact us and we will answer it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
